LOCATION: The Blackwood, Sassafras.
COMMENT: Living in Victoria you become accustomed to the cooler weather, in fact you embrace it. The best way to get through a Melbourne winter is actually to get out of the city and hide away somewhere charming and rustic but with all the creature comforts you need. I went on the hunt for the ideal getaway and found it at The Blackwood in Sassafras. My checklist included a fireplace, bathtub and a good couch, but I found a lot more than that at The Blackwood. Interior designer Justin Bishop has decked this place out to be the country retreat of your dreams. Not only does the huge bathtub have retractable shutters that allow a prime view of the big screen with Foxtel, but it also has heated tiles so when you eventually finish your wine and don the fluffy robe you’re about to live in, even your tootsies feel like they’re on break. There’s a Nespresso machine to make you feel better after all of the wine and a small kitchen to make some breakfast and think about what you might do for the day. The accommodation is quite literally in the middle of town, so you can venture out if you choose, however it’s also surrounded by beautiful big ol’ gum trees that mean you can pretend you’re miles from existence if you prefer that option. We’re back to the real world now, but we picked up one of Justin’s candles just so we can continue the dream a little longer.

LOCATION: Highpoint Shopping Centre.
STYLE: Dress (Worn as skirt); Mad but Magic. Jumper; Cheap Monday. Shoes; Novo. Necklace; Aristides Fine Jewels.
COMMENT: Fresh faces and fresh flowers were the theme of the Dior ‘Architects of Beauty’ Masterclass held at Highpoint over the weekend. Hosted by Nadia Bartel, the Dior team ran us through how to create a barely-there day look, with a pop of colour on the lips. Nadia was a total pro at both commentating the tutorial as well as asking the team at Dior the questions we weren’t brave enough to put our hand up for (eg. where exactly should that go?!). She did such a good job that we walked into Dior straight after the event and purchased an armful of product. Everybody wins!

COMMENT: As a new Mum, I hadn’t actually taken any time (because with a newborn, who has any spare?) to consider Mothers Day and what it would mean to me so I am eternally grateful to the team at Oh It’s Perfect for creating such an amazing event for Hazel and I to remember as our first together. Maybe it was all the roses, a bit too much sugar or just the fact that Hazel and I were scrubbed up at the same time – rare – that it took me by surprise that I got that knot in my stomach that you get when something means a lot to you. After running around like headless chickens for half the morning to get ready, we were lucky enough to join the beautiful Lana Wilkinson and Sarah Jane with their gorgeous girls for a lavish lunch at The Stables of Como. With balloons floating above us, we tucked into decadent desserts that were quite literally what dreams are made of and left with a bevy of beautiful gifts that made us feel nothing short of spoilt rotten.
There were so many talented businesses involved to create this setting and they’re worth hitting up if you are creating something special. For the full list and links to contact, hit up the Oh It’s Perfect Mother’s Day editorial.

COMMENT: I feel like I say this a lot about separate events lately, but when you get an invite to a YSL situation you’re unlikely going to decline. I like to think I’ve become a ‘yes’ sort of person but maybe that’s because it gives me a much needed night off every so often. This event was rock concert meets the cosmetic counter and it made for a night perfect for a birthday girl out on the town!
